Coding Sports Camp Spotlight: June 11-15th (Stem Explorer & Sports Camp)
LEGACY SPORTS & CODING CAMPS - Grades K-3, June 11-15
In this week’s Summer Camp spotlight we check out the 2nd week of the Coding and Sports Camp that takes place the week of June 11-15th.
Legacy Sports and Code Play Learn are partnering to create a week long, full day camp that will engage your child’s body and mind. This camp is specifically designed for students who are currently in grades K-3. ---> Register for June 11th Camp Here
Campers will spend one half of the day at our STEM Sampler Camp. Each camper will build their understanding of STEM as they code, construct and play.
During the week campers will:
Use our 3D CNC machine to design and cut their own 3D carvings they can bring home.
Learn to code and see their code in action with Sphero Sprk+ and our Anki Cozmo bots.
Put their engineering caps on as they build their own LEGO Motorized machines
Explore circuits and electronics while they build their own contraptions; and bring their creations home!
Campers will spend the other half of the day engaged in a variety of athletic activities. We offer dozens of multi-sports madness games like Treasure Island, Hand Hockey, Illinois Jones, Countdown Dodgeball, Battleship, Capture the Flag and soccer. These activities ensure that campers learn how to communicate with each other and work as a team to accomplish their goals.
Our camps will run each day from 8:30am-4:00pm. We ask that each camper bring their own lunch. Please remember to exclude any foods that contain any nuts.
Legacy Sports activities will take place at The Tennis and Fitness Centre located at 301 West Lake Street. Code Play Learn's activities will take place across the street at 132 N. Ridgeland Avenue. Campers will be walked between locations by staff from Legacy Sports. Space is limited to the first 15 campers.

Legacy Sports and Code Play Learn are partnering to create a week long, full day camp that will engage your child’s body and mind. This camp is specifically designed for students who are currently in 3rd grade through 7th grade.

Campers will spend half the day exploring engineering and coding with our VEX IQ robotics. Campers, working in pairs, will construct a variety of VEX robots including a Race-Car and Claw-Bot.
After building their bots campers will code them to conquer our challenges using the ModKit programming language. Their programs will allow them to create user driven and AUTONOMOUS programs as they learn the fundamentals of how to control a robot using a variety of sensors that evaluate distance, color, pressure and speed.
Campers will spend the other half of the day engaged in a variety of athletic activities, featuring dozens of Multi-Sport Madness games like Treasure Island, Hand Hockey, Illinois Jones, Countdown Dodgeball, Battleship, Capture the Flag and soccer. These activities ensure that campers learn how to communicate with each other and work as a team to accomplish their goals.
Our camps will run each day from 8:30am-4:00pm. We ask that each camper bring their own lunch. Please remember to exclude any foods that contain any nuts.

In this week’s Summer Camp spotlight we check out the Opening week of the Coding and Sports Camp that takes place the week of June 4-8th.
Legacy Sports and Code Play Learn are partnering to create a week long, full day camp that will engage your child’s body and mind. This camp is specifically designed for students who are currently in Kindergarten, through 3rd grade.
Campers will spend half their day exploring the fundamentals of coding and engineering as they build, code, test and modify their Sphero SPRK+, Anki Cozmo bots and LEGO WeDo robotic creations. (Check out the Sphero SPRK+ ) Our problem based learning approach enables each child to develop his or her ability to think creatively, work collaboratively and reason systematically.
Campers will spend the other half of the day engaged in a variety of athletic activities. Campers will spend half their day exploring the fundamentals of coding and building with ROBLOX. ROBLOX is a safe interactive gaming platform that allows campers to imagine, create, and code in an immersive 3d gaming world. Our tool provides campers with everything they need to create their own game from scratch. We use a drag-and-drop blocks coding library to create our games. Best of all, ROBLOX is a free to download.

Coding Sports Camp Spotlight: August 13th -17th – Chess & Rube Goldberg Camps
In this week’s Summer Camp spotlight we check out the week of August 13th – 17th in our Youth Coding & Sports Camp in Oak Park.
Grades 1-5 will be doing Sports & Chess Camp with US Candidate Master John Crissman, while grades 3-7th will be doing Multi-Sports Madness & Rube Goldberg Contraption Camp.
Current Grades 1-5th: August 13th-17th: Chess & Sports Camp:
Develop your child's mental clarity, fortitude, stability and overall health with Code Play Learn and Legacy Sports new Chess and Sports camp.
For one half of the day, campers will learn how to evolve their chess game. Whether your child is an absolute beginner or a strong tournament player, we have the right curriculum and teaching methods to keep him or her engaged, learning, and having fun; including an in-house chess tournament where all students will get a medal, and the first place winner receives a trophy!
Through chess, children will develop analytical, logical, and decision-making skills. Research has shown that test scores improved by 17.3% for students regularly engaged in chess classes, compared with only 4.6% for children participating in other forms of enriched activities. Our camp will be taught by U.S. Candidate Master John Crissman. John has taught chess professionally for over seven years and in over 30 different schools. He loves working with students of all ages and skill levels.
Campers will spend the other half of the day engaged in a variety of athletic activities, featuring dozens of Multi-Sport Madness games like Treasure Island, Hand Hockey, Illinois Jones, Countdown Dodgeball, Battleship, Capture the Flag and soccer. Campers will spend half the day exploring how to build a Rube Goldberg Contraption with VEX robotics equipment. Campers, working in pairs, will construct and code their Rube Goldberg Contraption to achieve a simple task in a complicated manner. Their contraption will use motors and sensors to achieve the goal of moving a ball through 5 stages of action.
Campers will spend the other half of the day engaged in a variety of athletic activities, featuring dozens of Multi-Sport Madness games like Treasure Island, Hand Hockey, Illinois Jones, Countdown Dodgeball, Battleship, Capture the Flag and soccer. Current Grades 3rd – 7th: August 6-10th: APP Creation & Sports Camp
This camp is designed for students who are currently in 3rd through 7th grade and is ideal for new and returning campers.
Campers will spend half of the day learning how to design and code their own Apps. Through the use of MIT’s App Inventor programming tool, students will learn the fundamentals of App coding and App design so they can become makers of technology instead of just users of technology. They'll be able to test their Apps on Android devices, supplied by CPL, to see and play their App in a live environment.
Campers will spend the other half of their day engaged in a variety of athletic activities, featuring dozens of Multi-Sport Madness games like Treasure Island, Hand Hockey, Illinois Jones, Countdown Dodgeball, Battleship, Capture the Flag and soccer. These activities ensure that campers learn how to communicate with each other and work as a team to accomplish their goals.
